Twilight switch

Twilight switches

Twilight switches are the simplest way to make lighting come on exactly when it is needed — and go off when it is not. Instead of fixed schedules, the device responds to the actual ambient light level, so you reduce energy consumption and keep the installation running reliably all year round.

Twilight switch – lighting control based on ambient light level

A sensor measures the light level and the switch turns the circuit on or off according to the threshold you have set — with no need to adjust the settings as the days get longer or shorter. The adjustable switching threshold lets you match the moment of activation to a specific location, while the time delay protects the circuit against accidental switching caused by car headlights or brief cloud cover.

When choosing a device, pay attention to:

  • the ambient light setting range and operating modes (including manual ON/OFF),
  • the output rating and permissible loads for incandescent, fluorescent and LED lamps,
  • the modular design for mounting on a 35 mm rail to PN-EN 60715,
  • the type of sensor — models with an external sensor let you mount the switch inside the distribution board.

Twilight switches work well in street and garden lighting, illuminated signage and shop windows, and outdoor lighting for industrial and public buildings.
