Current transformers – current measurement up to 6000 A

Relpol’s product range now includes new RCT series current transformers, designed for current measurement in electrical installations, distribution boards and energy monitoring systems. The new range includes models capable of measuring primary currents of up to 6000 A.

Current transformers are used wherever current values are too high to be measured directly by a standard meter or energy meter. Their purpose is to transform the current flowing in the primary circuit to a standard secondary value of 5 A, suitable for measuring and monitoring devices.

Relpol’s new range includes two series: RCT-SC with a split core and RCT-SP designed for mounting on busbars. This allows the current transformer to be selected according to both the electrical parameters of the installation and the way it is constructed.

RCT-SC – convenient installation in existing systems

RCT-SC current transformers feature a split-core design, allowing them to be installed on existing busbars without the need for the extensive work that would be required with a conventional closed-core transformer.

This makes them particularly useful when modernising distribution boards or expanding existing measurement systems.

The RCT-SC series includes versions for primary currents from 100 to 6000 A, with a rated secondary current of 5 A. Depending on the variant, the transformers are available in accuracy class 0.5 or 1 and with rated output from 1 to 30 VA.

The housings are made of flame-retardant polycarbonate. The transformer design also incorporates solutions intended to reduce the risk of accidental opening and unwanted interference.

RCT-SP – for different busbar dimensions

The second part of the new range consists of RCT-SP current transformers, designed for installations using busbars of different dimensions.

Available versions cover primary currents from 70 to 4000 A. The secondary current is 5 A, and depending on the version, the transformers are available in accuracy classes 0.5 and 1 and with rated output from 1 to 15 VA.

The design of the RCT-SP series allows the mounting method to be adapted to a specific application. The transformers can be panel-mounted and, with the appropriate accessory, also mounted on a DIN rail.

For energy measurement and monitoring

The new RCT current transformers can be used with, among other devices, energy meters, network parameter meters and energy consumption monitoring systems. This makes it possible to extend measurement systems to installations carrying significantly higher currents.

The new range includes:

  • RCT-SC split-core current transformers,
  • RCT-SP current transformers for busbars,
  • primary current range up to 6000 A,
  • standard secondary current 5 A,
  • accuracy classes 0.5 and 1,
  • different window dimensions allowing the transformer to be matched to the busbar,
  • a wide selection of current ratings and rated outputs.

The introduction of the RCT series expands Relpol’s range of measuring equipment and makes it possible to select a suitable solution for both new installations and modernised distribution boards and energy monitoring systems.
