The unlimited possibilities of free bridging of common signals and quickly connecting groups of relays.- New interface relays with push-in technology

Construction of modern and complex industrial automation systems often requires the use of multiple relay modules of different types in a single control cabinet. Relays used in large numbers in such applications are usually multi-pole versions, which results in the need to make a huge number of cable connections in the relay sockets during installation work. For this reason, each improvement in the design of the sockets and the relays used bring measurable benefits, both in design and during installation and daily operation. The new product line of interface relays from Relpol S.A. using push-in terminal sockets has been designed with attention to the smallest details to improve the work of engineers, speed up the work of electricians and people operating the installation during its operation.

Market expectations

The results of market analyses carried out by Relpol S.A. during development work on the design of new sockets using the push-in technology showed many areas in which it is possible to combine modern technical and functional features with the possibility of significant savings for the user

Many users have pointed out the need for new products to have a large surface area for permanent marking of sockets using self-adhesive tapes from marker printers and using marking plates used in cable connectors for DIN rail. These features allow for efficient, quick work and maintain high aesthetics of the descriptions in the created control cabinet.

One of the most important features expected by the users was also a consistent design of apparatus with different functionality, which results in very high aesthetics and also the possibility of using universal accessories, connecting bridges so called "strips" and jumpers. This allows to reduce unnecessary cabling and once again significantly accelerate installation work

Construction

In response to precisely defined market needs, Relpol S.A. developed a completely new series of plug-in sockets GZP80 for miniature relays and GZP4 for industrial relays. The new sockets equipped with push-in terminals were then used to create complete sets of interface relays. The advantage of the products is easy and fast mounting on a DIN rail thanks to precise brackets and the pecial shape of the housing. In addition, mounting and cable organization is facilitated by terminals that are angled slightly towards the cable support. The products can be permanently and visibly marked with adhesive marker tapes up to 9mm wide or with standard marking plates used in many common DIN rail cable connectors from many manufacturers.

Quick, easy and safe operation is ensured by precise push-in clamps with low insertion force and high holding force, far exceeding the requirements indicated for this type of clamps in EN60947-7-1, EN60998-2-2, EN60999-1, EN60999-2 standards. The sockets are equipped with red terminal release buttons, characterized by impeccable operation. Thanks to that, disconnecting the wires is intuitive and quick. In addition, the shape and size of the button allows you to release the terminal with any type of screwdriver or even with a pen. A unique feature are also the measuring probe slots located at each of the terminals. They are designed in such a way as to  the probe in the socket and enable measurements without the need to hold the probe with hands, regardless of the position of the socket.

It is possible to order different versions, with coloured transparent housing, blue for relays with DC coils and orange for AC coils. By using different colours it is possible to quickly differentiate between AC powered and DC powered sections. Transparent housing additionally allows checking the status of the contacts and the relay mechanism.

Product lines

There are currently three product lines with push-in sockets. The first includes the PI85, PI84 interface relays with GZP80 push-in sockets. These are ready to install, complete sets consisting of one- and two-pole miniature relays of RM85 and RM84 series, available both in standard housings and in coloured transparent housings, designed respectively for switching loads of max. 8A for two-pole versions and 12A (*max. 16A after bridging) for single-pole versions. The sets are equipped with a classic type M sygnalling and surge protection module and ejector clamps.

The second line of products are sets named PI84P and PI85P with GZP80 push-in sockets, which are, like the previous ones, sets consisting of a socket, relay, signalling and surge protection module and ejector. In these products, the operational elements are transparent relays RMP85 and RMP84, appreciated by many automation specialists. Load capacity of the contact system is max. 16A for single-pole version and 8A for two-pole version. The most important feature of this version is the possibility of mechanical test button with latching function.

The last product line are complete PIR2 and PIR4 interface relays with GZP4 push-in sockets. The relays are industrial two-pole relays type R2N with 12A rated load and four-pole 6A relays R4N with test button with lock function. As in the previous series, the customer receives a complete ready-to-install relay module.

Standard versions include versions controlled with 24VDC, 24VAC, 230VAC voltages, however for other coil voltages and special versions, please contact Relpol S.A. representative or customer service office directly.

Accessories

A very important issue is a wide range of plug-in accessories ensuring fast and free bridging, both on the coil side and on the relay output side. The accessories include such products as 2-pole connectors (ZGZP80-2, ZGZP4-2), 8-pole connectors (ZGZP80-8, ZGZP4-8), 2-pole jumpers (ZGZP-2).  All types are available in four Colour  versions and provide virtually unlimited possibilities of use. The possibility of combining in many configurations simultaneously allows for additional time saving during installation works

Summary

The new line of interface relays of Relpol S.A. in push-in technology offers a number of advantages over classic screw versions. Significantly reduced assembly time facilitates and accelerates the work of manufacturers and assemblers of automation systems, which translates into significant savings, especially in complex projects with a large number of intermediary relays.  A wide range of plug-in accessories in the form of interconnection strips and jumpers for bridging common input signals and even interface relay outputs, allows you to reduce the number of necessary operations to a minimum and further reduce wiring time. Refined design allows free use of common marking methods, known from other industrial automation equipment. All of this together makes the entire process of automation system production using the latest Relpol S.A. interface relays much faster and easier. Additionally, the final visual effect of the assembled switchgear is much better than when using classic old-type screw sockets.  Detailed information materials can be found on the manufacturer's website www.relpol.pl.
